ASF Magazine Interview

I was recently contacted by ASF magazine who wanted to write a feature about me and for me to judge a competition.
I was more than happy to help out and here is the feature in full:

Arty Nudes (NSFW)

Recently I have been experimenting in Photoshop, aiming to bring a fresh look to my work.

Portraits of a Master

I was approached by a pianist to take some quick portraits in the studio.
He wanted something a little different, something with character.
We didn’t have so much time but we managed to take some great photos….

Raindrops (NSFW)

This series was shot a few years ago at my photo studio in Vienna.
The model was really proud of her breasts and wanted them to be the focus of the photos.

Louise

Louise is a good friend and a beautiful model.
This series is from a photoshoot we had in my studio a few years ago but I decided to reprocess the photos in sepia.

Rainbow Parade 2016

As always the Regenbogenparade 2016 was a fabulous event with some really wonderful people…

Freckles (NSFW)

Jamie has such a beautiful smile and stunning eyes. For this series, we took a few photos in a bedroom setting together. We tried a few different ideas out and I was really happy with the end result..

A Master Pianist

Daniel is a very talented concert pianist from the United States living in Vienna and needed some new photos for his website.

Captive (NSFW)

I was shooting with a model and after we were done with our planned shoot, she wanted some psycho photos with her partner.
I was more than happy to oblige and it was very interesting setting up the lighting.
We all had a lot of fun with the shoot but due to events at the time, I decided not to publish the photos.

Seductive Eyes (NSFW)

[:de]Sharon is a friend and we ended up taking some photos together. Sharon is from South America and has a beautiful face and stunning eyes.
She was lying on the studio couch and I went for a red fabric to match the cushions.
I used my Sigma 85mm 1.4 wide open to bring out her eyes while giving a beautiful romantic bokeh to the background.[:]

Nudes in Classic Painting Style (NSFW)

I was inspired by the fabulous work of Zachar Rise and so I decided to do some photoshop on some nude photos I took a while ago in the studio of the fabulous Nicole.

I tried to recreate the feel of the old masterpieces – and I got a good idea of what works well with different backgrounds, colours, and poses

Hands On Ophelia (NSFW)

We were talking with a friend and spontaneously decided to do a shoot.
As the model knew my girlfriend quite well, she got the job as the hand model.

We did not take so many photos but there were some really great shots amongst the few we did take….

A Walk Around Parliament, Volksgarten, and Burggarten

On Monday, I had the pleasure of walking around Vienna Parliament, Volksgarten, and Burggarten with the fabulous Irina Skripnik, a talented photographer from Ukraine who was on a European tour, her husband, and a lovely Ukranian couple who were living in Vienna.
We tried some new ideas out amid the lovely Vienna landmarks in the area and took some fabulous photos.

Dragonboat Racing on the Donau

A few friends were organising the Dragonboat race on Saturday and invited me along.
It was held at the Vienna City Beach Club along the Donau and the weather was beautiful.
Unfortunately, I was only there for an hour because I had to be at a party afterwards but I managed to take some lovely photos.

Fine-Art Nudes in BW & Colour (NSFW)

I was looking over some photos of a model posed on a box in the studio I took a few years ago and I realised there were some great shots that I had not processed yet.
I tried something a little different here and started playing around with the colours.

Baby Photos at Burg Kreuzenstein

Some friends are getting married in August and I will be taking the photos.
Yesterday, we looked around the wedding location and ended up at Burg Kreuzenstein.
They brought their 10-month old baby along and he was so sweet that I ended up taking lots of photos of him..

Quick Fashion(ish) Shoot

A model just popped by to pick up her photos and she had awesome glasses. She was in a rush but I managed to get a few photos on her walk home

Schönbrunn Zoo

It has been sometime since I was last at the zoo but not so much has changed. As I was with my girlfriend, I didn’t really have the time to focus on photography, but I still got some nice handheld shots with my Nikon 200mm f/2.

Romantic Proposal in Volksgarten

Nathan is a romantic, a serious romantic and Lizzy is his long-time girlfriend.
Most people would never even think of renting out one of the prettiest parks in Vienna, but that did not stop Nathan

Vienna Photo Walk

Vienna Photo Walk is a group of photographers that meet up monthly and walk around Vienna in different locations. I had wanted to join them before but I was always busy with other things during their walks. Fortunately, on Saturday, my model had cancelled and I was finally able to join them. The group are lovely and we wandered along the Donaukanal to see the graffiti and get some photos of the stand-up paddling event going on. I had my Nikon 200mm f2 with me and we did more talking and chatting than taking photos and the stand-up paddling was not as spectacular as hoped, but I love the photos I took during the day.

Lightpainting Experiments

Here are some light painting experiments from Wednesday’s great shoot.
I played around with the processing and tried something a little different to give an almost watercolour feel to the photos.

Pregnancy Shoot in Red (NSFW)

The mother-to-be was a good friend and wanted some abstract close-up photos of her pregnant baby-belly and I was more than happy to have a pregnancy shoot with her. She was 8 1/2 months pregnant and we were a little worried that we would not have time for the shoot before the baby arrived. Fortunately for us, the baby did not come early as expected and we were able to take this series of her stunningly beautiful baby-belly.

Here I chose a grey background with some low-key lighting to give a classic black-and-white feel to the photos

Bad Nun (NSFW)

[:en]I think Carry has an interesting sweet and innocent yet somehow bad girl look and I thought I would play on this with some weapons and a nun costume.

I tried a few different colour effects and I think the red fiery effect is perfect for this scene![:]

Smoke and Shadows (NSFW)

Taken with the beautiful Carry, here are some photos I took a while ago. I used some strong lighting with a fog machine and added a little colour in post.

Naomi – Dancing Nudes (NSFW)

[:en]Naomi is a professional dancer who was interested in a photoshoot with me. She came for a chat but we were so inspired, we decided to do a quick test shoot. As you can see, it turned out fabulous and I hope to have many more photoshoots with Naomi again…[:de]Naomi ist eine profesionelle Tanzerin und wollte ein Fotoshooting mit mir zu machen. Sie ist gekommen für ein Chat aber wir waren so inspiriert dass wir ein schnelleres Testshooting gemacht haben.
