Headshots are totally different to portraits and they are all about showing the personality with just the facial expression whereas portraits often include other visual clues as to the subjects character.
This type of photography was born in the acting industry where casting directors would get just a few seconds to decide whether they wanted an actor/actress and a great headshot became a vital part in getting roles. With online profiles, both personal and commercial, becoming a big part of our lives, the modern headshot has taken on a new role.
